
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on the 24th of March, 1977, is an American actress. Her most famous work is her role in films with female-centric themes. She has been the recipient of numerous awards including an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people around the globe in 2012. Chastain developed an interest in acting from an early age and made her professional stage debut in 1998 in Shakespeare's Juliet. After completing her acting studies at Juilliard School, she was offered a talent agreement with John Wells. She was a frequent guest star on several television shows as well as a number of roles in stage productions. Following her film debut at the age of 31 with the drama Jolene (2008), Chastain became a household name in the year 2011 with six film projects, including the dramas Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2011). Chastain was also considered for Academy Award nominations as a part of The Help (2011), where she played a aspiring socialite. Then she appeared in Zero Dark Thirty (2012) as a CIA analyst. The science fiction films Interstellar (2014) & The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain received further acclaim for her role as a strong-willed woman in the dramas A Very violent Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), and Molly's Game (2017), and the miniseries for television Scenes from a Marriage (2021). In the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (1921) she played Tammy Faye Bakker. She received the Academy Award as Best Actress. Tammy Wynette was the miniseries George & Tammy (222). Chastain is the founder of production company Freckle Films, which was founded to encourage the inclusion of diverse film makers. She is an investor in the soccer team Angel City FC. She has a strong voice on mental health issues, as the issue of gender and race equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her husband.
