She's an extremely private woman who doesn't know much about her family members, particularly parents and siblings. Mohr earned a Bachelor in Science in Speech Pathology at the University of Georgia, with an Audiology Minor. Mohr was also enrolled into the University of St. Thomas which is located Houston, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast meteorology in 1989.Mohr was introduced to the world of glamour when she was just twenty-four, on the advice of a fellow UGA student. She competed in Miss Columbus, 1985. She won it by kissing and defeating all competitors. She was entitled, as because of this win to take part at the Miss Georgia Pageant in June of 1985. On the same day, June 22, 1985, she was the winner of the competition. Mohr continued to be a part of Georgia in Miss America 1986. Miss America 1986 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 15, 1985 in the wake of her win. Despite her victory Mohr did not finish within the Top 10 for the title of Miss America national.
