Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946, into a poor family with 12 kids at one point, realized that she was able to escape her hardships through a imaginative mind. Before learning how to read and write Dolly Parton was composing her own songs. Her first guitar purchase came when she was 8 and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age 11. In the same year, she recorded her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. As a student in high school, she made her name local, but longed for a larger stage. After she finished her high school, in 1964 she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host at the time was searching for a girl to sing on his show. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. However, it wasn't until 1974 that she opted to walk away from Wagoner's show because the success of her solo albums including Joshua Coat, Many Colors and Jolene exceeded their collective efforts. Parton recorded "I will Always Be Loving You" for Wagoner shortly after they separated. The track hit No. The first time in 1974.
